The Swedish player came to the NHL after spending five years with Sweden's Modo Hockey, a team from their second tier league. He began his career in the NHL playing for the now defunct Quebec Nordiques in 1994. The following season, the Nordiques would move to Colorado becoming the Avalanche, and Forsberg would stay there until 2004, winning two Stanley Cups.
